This week I'd like to talk about my most favorite competitors on Dancing With The Stars. The winners of season 18, Meryl and Maks, were my all time favorite. Meryl Davis is a Olympic gold medal winner for ice skating. The way she moved on the dance floor was just like how she performed on the ice. She was perfection. Every week she did her best thanks to her partner Maks for encouraging her. Every single performance she did left me speechless. Even on her worst days she still did much better than the other competitors. I was team Meryl since day one. The first time I watched her dance, I knew that she was going to win. She definitely deserved the mirror ball trophy. After Dancing With The Stars, Meryl continued dance. After tons of practice, she joined the DWTS tour. She stood out when she was on stage. I love Meryl so much, and she will continue to be my favorite.

A couple days ago, I discussed Dancing With The Stars with my creative writing teacher, Mr. Aeen. We're both huge fans of the show. Every season we create bets to see who will win. I always look forward to attending his class because we always have something new to share about the show. Recently we discussed how the contestants on the show are getting paid lots of money. We thought that the stars joined the show to lose weight, or to prove to themselves that they can do whatever they dream of. Mr. Aeen and I were shocked to find out that for every week that the competitor preforms, they earn thousands of dollars. The more times they dance, the more money they make. Last season's winner, Bindi Irwin made half a million dollars being on the show. This surprised both me and my teacher. Now we know why people were so compassionate about joining the show!

I'm so excited for 22nd season of Dancing With the Stars. The show premieres March 21st with tons of great performers and new contestants. The cast has not yet been announced, but a few cast rumors have been revealed. Season 21 winner, Bindi Irwin announced that her younger brother Robert might join the show. Robert is only 11 years old. That is the youngest ever on the show. Who knows? Maybe Robert will take home the mirror ball trophy like his big sister. Robert said that he has truly inspired by watching Bindi perform every week on the show. He arrived to every taping of the show, and thinks that it would be a lot of fun, yet hard. I would love seeing Robert on the show. He has such a good personality, and always seems happy and cheerful. I wonder who his pro partner would be? Whoever it is, hopefully they try hard to get Robert to the top! Hopefully these rumors turn to reality.

Carlos Penavega and his partner Whitney Carson landed in fourth place in season 21. They definitely should have made it to the final two. Of course they weren't going to win, but they were a strong team. At a point during the competition, I thought that they had a huge chance of winning. Carlos was good at ballroom dances, and he was good at jazz. He was never afraid to try something new, which is a risk. I expected more from his freestyle hip hop dance. I thought it would be more fun and energetic. Sadly, I felt like Carlos didn't do much dancing, just walking around and clapping in his freestyle. I feel like if their freestyle was stronger they could have made it through to the next night. When he left the ballroom, he explained how he loved being on the show and that it was one of the best experiences of his life. I loved watching him every week because he preformed his best.

Season 21 of Dancing With The Stars is over, and I think the right couple won. Bindi Irwin and her partner Derek Hough were the champions. They definitely deserved it. This was Derek's sixth win, which is four more wins than any other pro. Bindi was always such a happy person which got her tons of votes. Not only did she have a great personality, but she was an amazing dancer. As I look back at her dances, there wasn't a single dance that I thought was boring. She's such an energetic dancer who brings so much to the ballroom. Derek said that she was one of the best partners he has ever had on the show. Her freestyle dance made the judges cry. It was a beautiful contemporary piece that was dedicated to her father. It was one of the best freestyles I have ever seen on the show. It made me want Bindi to win even more. In the end, Bindi definitely deserved the Mirrorball trophy.

This week's episode of Dancing With The Stars was really shocking. It was the week before the semi-finals so the judges were extra tough with their critiques. Alek has been the underdog in the competition for a long time, and I thought it was time he went home--yet he didn't. Alexa and her husband Carlos were both in jeopardy! Everyone was shocked, including Alexa and Carlos. They were both crying uncontrollably before the show announced who would be leaving. Sadly Alexa was eliminated. I think of the two couples in jeopardy, the right couple went home. Alexa was very upset, but you could tell that Carlos felt really bad. You could hear him whisper to Alexa when her name was called for being eliminated, "I wish it was me." It was so sweet. Alexa had great appreciation. In her speech before she left the ballroom she said that she left in the best way. She also said that she had such a great time on the show and that she's glad she did this with her husband. I'm curious to see whether Alexa will be in the audience at the next episode routing for Carlos. This episode was definitely the most heart-warming episode yet.

This week on Dancing With The Stars many important things happened. Erin Andrews returned to the ballroom as her place as host and Nick Carter announced that he and his wife are having a baby boy. Nick also received immunity for getting a perfect score. He deserved it. His dance was a beautiful contemporary piece, which he dedicated to his wife. Bindi and Derek danced a fun and energetic foxtrot. It was very amusing to watch, but it definitely was not her best dance. Carlos danced a salsa with his partner Whitney. They received a trio of 9s. I was disappointed that my favorite competitors did not do as well as I hoped. The second round of dances were "dance offs". Each couple chose another couple to dance with. For example, Tamar and Val verses Alexa and Mark. They danced a cha cha. I liked both dances, but Alexa's was better. Alexa won that round giving her extra points to her overall night score. Andy Grammer got sent home. I thought Alek should have gotten eliminated, but I thought the choice was fair. Next week there will be dance duets, which I am really excited about. Hopefully next week's episode is better than ever.
